Hello Members,

As we move into September, it’s a little bittersweet knowing the season is beginning to wind down. That said, both Mario, Haukur and I are breathing a small sigh of relief after what we’d call a very successful year.

Course Maintenance

We’ve been busy with overseeding and top-dressing on the greens, and I’m pleased to report they’ve responded very well. Tees, greens, and fairways have also been fertilized.

The greens’ height of cut has now been raised to 4mm, which will help new seed establish and give the turf some much-needed rest. By late October, we’ll raise it further to 5mm to ensure the greens go into winter in the best possible condition.

I’m sure you’ll be happy to see the area around the 7th tee box completed. Fresh seed has been laid, and with a bit of luck, we’ll see some growth before the season closes.

Unfortunately, we’ve had ongoing issues with damage to the course this year. Just recently, a divot was taken from the 2nd green. We’ve also noticed range balls being hit from tees and baskets of balls being used on the course. While I believe most of this isn’t being done by members, I ask everyone to keep an eye out. Let’s work together to protect the course and hold each other accountable.

Many of you have asked about my plans for closing the course. My intention is to keep it open as long as possible. I may take some tee boxes out of play to protect them, and I’ll be strict about frost delays. In the event of heavy frost, I may close the course for a week, but if temperatures rise again, I’ll gladly reopen. The goal is to get the very best out of the season for all of us.

Thank you all for your continued support, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the golf season.

Best regards,
Stuart
