Nesklúbburinn Almennt

Dear Members,

For those of you I have not yet met, my name is Stuart Mitchinson, and I am your new Golf Course Manager here at the wonderful Nesklúbburinn.

It has been an interesting start for me at the club, with my first day being the Monday after the storms.  I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has helped with the stone clearing on the workdays — it has truly made a huge difference.

We are now seeing the aftermath of the storm damage, as shown in the pictures here below of the 2nd and 7th tee boxes.

Overall, the greens are slowly coming out of winter. It’s a bit of a mixed picture: some greens are looking fine, while others are sparse with very little grass coverage. The photos below show the current condition of the 6th and 4th greens.

Temperatures are now on the rise, but the recent freezing nights combined with sunny, windy days have certainly not helped the recovery over the past two weeks.
The greens were top-dressed to help protect them as much as possible. We have since fertilised and overseeded them, and hopefully, we will see positive results soon.

I look forward to seeing you all out on the course this summer.

Best regards,
Stuart Mitchinson
